Our story

The idea for the creation of Vezbari was born during the preparation of our wedding – in the authentic style of the North Bulgarian folklore traditions, a re-enactment of the way it was done centuries ago. While embroidering some of the accessories and souvenirs, we were fascinated by the hidden meaning of the colourful patterns and the positive energy locked between the stitched threads.
Traditional embroidery is mostly done on garments and serves not so much for decoration but for protection. The colour and patterns of embroideries grasp the attention and fends off negative thoughts. This is why shirts, skirts and robes are decorated mostly along their edges around the neck, wrists, waist, and ankles. The logical alternative – embroidery on necklaces, earrings, bracelets and belts enchants with the beauty of patterns and colours to protect with positive energy.
Embroideries also tell a story. One can read the intricate stitches and patters and get to know the past and present of the person wearing the embroidered garment. These coded messages have been transcending over centuries, passed on from generation to generation.
